Another Digital Painting created in Artrage, Digital painting thrives mostly in production art. In 1986 I worked as a Technical Illustrator and some of my tools were the air brush, ruling pen, drafting table ect., by 1990 all were gone and replaced by the Mac and CAD (Computer Aided Design) software. So in 2016 it is not surprising we have soft ware that gives artist a similar environment to a physical plein air painter. All digital painting programs try to mimic the use of physical media like oil, acrylics, charcoal and watercolor. I am finding the creative process in traditional and digital painting is more or less the same.

Working in Artrage

Painting with Artrage (a digital software) is a new experience for me, for all my many years as an artist it has been hands on and in the field. The last 20+ years I have real enjoyed plein air painting and have a large collection of paintings I can use as a reference that is only gained from painting on location.. So even though I am not a fan of computers and a novice of all things digital I purchased a tablet and the art software. So far so good, think I will do another one.
