Welcome to Linda Cheek's Plein-Air Art Studio. I started bulding my art studio in 1990 and it has been and still is a work in progress, to quote Grandma Cheek "by the time you've made it, you've had it." I hope this blog will be an inspiration to artists and others as well.

From oil to watercolor 2021
That first experience of painting outdoors, directly from nature, was a revelation, and joy. For years I have painted with oils en plein air, though I didn't paint in watercolor myself, I certainly had a appreciation of the medium. As a plein air artist traveling light when working outdoors is always a plus, and with the typically equipment watercolorist use as apposed to oils made it possible for me to go painting easier.
Above are some of my small 9x12 paintings created with oil and then with w/c of the same subject.
